Steve Hess, native of Oregon, acquired his appetite for drawing while in pre-school.  Steve while in grade school, created his own comic strips and characters.  He later drew cartoons for his Junior High and High School papers.  After public school, he studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design in PasadenaPacific Northwest College of Art here in Portland and The School of Visual Concepts in Seattle.  After college he began attending open life drawing sessions at Hipbone Studio in the early nineties.  Steve continued his cartooning, beginning with self-published comix projects, then later with published comix – some locally then later nationally.  Approaching the mid-nineties he found employment generating storyboards for local animation studios, and by 2000, he added to his marketable talents – character and background design for his employers.  Steve still works locally for animation studios and still attends the life drawing sessions offered at Hipbone Studio, with the motivation of keeping his sketching skills sharpened.  [album:]
