Hipbone was founded 22 years ago in a very small studio downtown in the Pythian Building. Since then, with a couple of other locations and now in our current much larger space, it has evolved from its original purpose-to provide a space for visual artists to engage and study the human figure and respond creatively to it-to one that also includes the performing arts. The studio easily converts from what many say is the best place to draw in town, into a real, live theater to accommodate drama, storytelling, dance, music literary readings, etc.. Other welcome uses have included; private parties, craft fairs, photography shoots, classes and rehearsals.

Plenty of Free Parking! Enter on 18th!

Bus service on E. Burnside St. between 12th and 28th Avenues has been diverted to Sandy Blvd. and NE Glisan due to impending sewer construction. The closest stop for the #19 and #20 buses is now 18th and Sandy. From there walk 3 blocks south to get to Hipbone. Sorry for any inconvenience.
